Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage is seeking an experienced automotive technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair transit buses and related equipment in the Public Transportation department. The role involves power-train and electronic control system work, with service calls across multiple shifts.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and a journeyman mechanic apprenticeship, plus the ability to obtain/hold a Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement.

Qualifications

• Shows journeyman-level automotive knowledge and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to diagnose and repair power-train and vehicle systems.
• Experience with field service and safety procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair power-train, systems, and components on PTD buses.
• Respond to field service calls in various weather to repair or recover vehicles.
• Document work performed using MOA Maintenance Management Software (MMS).
• Maintain clean, safe shop areas and ensure timely maintenance.
