Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage is seeking an Equipment Technician in the Maintenance & Operations department to inspect, diagnose, repair heavy equipment and light-duty vehicles, and perform preventive maintenance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of a journeyman mechanic apprenticeship, 4–5 years of automotive and equipment maintenance experience, and a valid Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement. Background checks and drug tests apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved journeyman mechanic apprenticeship.
• 4–5 years of automotive, construction equipment, transit bus, and truck maintenance/repair experience.
• Must possess and/or obtain a valid CDL with Passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, adjust, diagnose, maintain, initiate parts requisition, and repair heavy equipment and light-duty vehicles.
• Perform welding, fabrication, mounting, and use of hand and power tools.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and DOT brake inspections.
• Document work in the maintenance management software and ensure safety and quality.
