Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) in Cleveland, OH seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join the Safety Department. Qualifications

  • Associate degree or two-year technical degree preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in EHS in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates environmental health and safety for Bus, Rail, Paratransit and Non-Revenue operations under direction of the Safety Manager.
  • Manages underground storage tank requirements, hazardous waste contracts, waste minimization plans, spill prevention and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists in regulatory incident response, audits, risk-based inspections, and data collection with the State Safety Oversight Agency.
  • Analyzes accident and injury data to suggest improvements.
  • Advises District Safety Committees and supports Executive Safety Committee meetings with safety updates.
  • Investigates major Bus, Rail, and vehicle accidents and conducts root cause analysis with recommendations.
  • Maintains on-call status 24/7 on rotating schedule and participates in emergency responses.
  • Reviews project specifications for safety standards and leads development and delivery of safety programs.
  • Performs safety inspections and internal audits to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with all departments to ensure safety compliance and protect employees, public, and environment.
  • Manages safety contracts as assigned by Safety leadership.

Education

Associate Degree in Safety, Engineering, Natural Science, Environmental or related technical field
