Job summary

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our Safety Department and support a positive, mature safety culture at the Authority. This role requires flexibility to work non-traditional hours, participate in an on‑call rotation, and respond to critical incidents during non‑business hours/weekends.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two-year degree preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of EHS experience in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate environmental health and safety for Bus, Rail, Paratransit and Non‑Revenue operations.
• Assist in waste management, spill prevention, and regulatory compliance.
• Support safety committees and executive safety updates.
• Investigate major incidents and conduct root cause analyses.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and after‑hours incident response.
• Develop corrective action plans and monitor results.
