Job summary

Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools is seeking a dispatcher to support the safe and efficient operation of the bus dispatch office. Under supervision, provide direction to drivers and monitors, manage route coverage, and communicate with leadership and emergency services.

The role requires flexibility for nights, weekends, and split shifts. CDL Class B with P and S endorsements is required. Starting pay is $25.47 per hour and salary details are aligned with district policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous dispatch or customer service experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills and routing know-how.

Responsibilities

• Works with Transportation staff to orchestrate daily logistics and information flow for bus transportation operations.
• Relays messages via two-way radio between leadership and drivers regarding assignments, weather, and traffic.
• Provides drivers with detailed routing directions and stop locations to ensure coverage.
• Maintains knowledge of district street networks and construction zones for optimal service.
• Inputs daily information into computer system for attendance and route coverage; logs fleet data.
