Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage is seeking a transit operations leader to manage day-to-day transit activities, assign bus operator work, and ensure safety compliance. The role requires coordinating detours, monitoring radio and software, and handling on-route issues while maintaining smooth service delivery.

The position involves ensuring fit-for-duty status, working within the Municipal Personnel Rules, and supporting a non-represented workforce in a 24/7 operational environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• and six (6) years of experience in the field related to the position.
• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position.
• All applicants must possess or obtain a Valid State of Alaska Driver's License.
• Satisfactory national criminal background investigation.
• Current Copy of your Department of Motor Vehicle driving record.
• Satisfactory drug test.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and direction to support day-to-day transit operations, including assigning bus operator work and detours.
• Check-in bus operators to ensure fit-for-duty compliance and coordinate on-route complications.
• Monitor radio, transit software, and face-to-face interactions; perform related duties as assigned.

Education
