Qualifications

• Education: MT, CLS, BB or SBB.
• 2 years of blood banking experience in a transfusion center or reference lab.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Resolve routine to complex serological problems for transfusion therapy and inform hospital staff of results.
• Provide antigen negative blood from inventory or American Rare Donor Program; maintain rare donor inventories.
• Procure and maintain rare red blood cells and antisera inventories; manage reagents and equipment; assist long-term capital planning.
• Participate in rotating on-call for consultation and donor testing; stay current with transfusion medicine procedures and research.
• Supervise competency testing and maintain accurate records per regulatory requirements.
• Educate rotating technologists, pathology residents, hematology-oncology fellows, and SBB students.
