Qualifications

• Education: MT/MLS, CLS, BB or SBB required.
• Experience: 2 years blood banking in transfusion center or reference lab.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Resolve routine to complex serological problems and inform hospital staff of results by telephone.
• Provide antigen negative blood from inventory or A.R.D.P. and manage rare donor inventories.
• Procure and maintain rare red blood cells and antisera inventories; QC reagents and equipment.
• Participate in rotating on-call for consultation and transfusion problem screening.
• Keep current on Transfusion Medicine procedures and participate in educational programs.
• Perform and supervise Competency Testing and Proficiency Testing surveys.
• Maintain all files and records pertaining to patient and donor testing per policies.
• Instruct rotating technologists, residents and fellows.
