Qualifications

• MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree is required.
• Board certification by the American Board of Pathology in AP/CP or CP, or board certification in adult/pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
• Board certification or eligibility in Transfusion Medicine.
• Strong interest in and/or experience in laboratory management.
• Scholarly record of publication in books and peer-reviewed journals.
• Full, unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Transfusion Medicine/Apheresis attending and provide medical direction of blood bank clinical services.
• Promote safe and effective transfusion components within the medical center and collaborate with clinicians across departments.
• Participate in departmental, institutional, and national committees as needed.
• Contribute to education through didactic presentations, rounds, seminars, and workshops.
• Engage in clinical research and scholarly activities and collaborate with colleagues.
