Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, Department of Pathology, seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in clinical pathology and transfusion medicine. The successful candidate will provide transfusion medicine/apheresis care, lead medical direction of blood bank services, and oversee quality processes while engaging in teaching and research across residents and faculty.

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent degree and ABP board certification in AP/CP or CP, or ABP certification in adult/pediatric Hematology/Oncology
• Board certification or eligibility in Transfusion Medicine
• Strong interest in laboratory management
• Scholarly publication record in books or peer-reviewed journals
• Full, unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia
• Commitment to professionalism and civility across a diverse faculty and student body

Responsibilities

• Clinical: Transfusion Medicine/Apheresis attending; medical direction of blood bank clinical services; quality assurance oversight
• Service: Participation in departmental, institutional, and national committees
• Teaching: Education for residents, medical and graduate students, dental and allied health learners; CME activities and workshops
• Research: Active clinical research collaborations and presentations at national meetings; publications
• Collaboration: Report to Division Chair to advance the Department of Pathology mission
