Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine seeks a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in clinical pathology and transfusion medicine. The position requires an MD/MD-PhD or equivalent, ABP certification in relevant areas, and Virginia medical licensure. Collaboration across hematology, oncology and critical care is expected.

Qualifications

• MD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree.
• Board certification by the American Board of Pathology in combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology or Clinical Pathology, or board certification in adult or pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
• Board certification or eligibility in Transfusion Medicine.
• Strong interest in and/or documented experience in laboratory management.
• Scholarly record of publication in books and peer-reviewed journals.
• Full, unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
• Commitment to respect, professionalism and civility across diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Transfusion Medicine/Apheresis attending and provide medical oversight of blood bank related services.
• Promote safe transfusion components and collaborate with clinicians across multiple specialties.
• Participate in departmental, institutional and national committees.
• Engage in teaching activities for residents, students and allied health professionals.
• Contribute to research and clinical scholarship with active involvement in professional organizations.
