Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, VA, seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in clinical pathology and transfusion medicine to join the Department of Pathology.

The faculty member will provide transfusion medicine leadership, participate in teaching and research, and work closely with the Division Chair to advance the department's mission. This is a full-time, 12-month position with commensurate salary.

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD or equivalent degree
• ABPath board certification in AP/CP or CP, or in adult or pediatric hematology/oncology
• Board certification or eligibility in Transfusion Medicine
• Full, unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia
• Demonstrated professionalism and civility in a diverse academic environment

Responsibilities

• Provide transfusion medicine leadership and medical oversight of blood bank-related clinical services and QA processes.
• Participate in departmental, institutional and national committees.
• Engage in teaching activities for residents, medical and graduate students, and other learners.
• Pursue clinical research and contribute to peer‑reviewed literature.
• Collaborate with division chair and colleagues to advance the department's mission.
