Job summary

Hitachi Energy in United States (Tennessee region) is seeking a hands-on Field Service Specialist to support power transformers, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and end-of-life services, often on-site under challenging conditions.

You will read electrical and mechanical drawings, follow technical manuals, and perform detailed service activities to extend transformer life and ensure safe operation of power grid assets.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree with 2 years of professional work experience or High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of professional work experience.
• Broad knowledge of transformer field service operations and transformer field testing.
• Familiarity with transformer installation and assembly, vacuum and oil processing, and internal transformer components.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel up to 85%.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site and remote service activities including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and replacements.
• Support customer operations by addressing technical issues and anticipating service needs.
• Read and work from electrical and mechanical drawings, instructions, and technical manuals.
• Complete internal transformer work such as bushing connections, lead clearance, tapping, crimping, taping, and contoured joints.
• Repair, re-gasket, assemble, and disassemble transformer equipment as directed.
• Coordinate logistics for service jobs, including tools, resources, and spare parts.
• Contribute ideas for product and process improvements that enhance operations and customer service.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
