Job summary

ASU Preparatory Academy seeks a Special Education instructor to collaborate with the team, evaluate students, and deliver instruction aligned to IEP goals across reading, writing, math, and related areas. Emphasis on individualized instruction, family communication, and data-driven planning.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Education, AZ Special Education certification, and DPS background clearance, with a focus on meeting diverse student needs and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university.
• State of Arizona Teaching Certificate in Special Education for HQ status.
• Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.
• Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Works with the Special Education team to identify, evaluate and serve students with disabilities who qualify for special education services.
• Participates in all activities for evaluation and serving students.
• Delivers instruction in specified content areas according to students’ IEPs.
• Determines instruction techniques and adapts curriculum to meet and assess student’s needs.
• Maintains data on IEP goal growth, attendance to services and communication with parents and teachers.
• Maintains open lines of communication with parents/guardians about academic and discipline issues.
• Develops and creates appropriate virtual classroom materials and organization.
• Develops, analyzes and implements IEPs for students to accommodate instruction based on assessment.
