Qualifications

• Holds a valid Virginia or out-of-state teaching license in Special Education.
• Eligible for a Virginia teaching license in Special Education (must submit transcripts).
• Knowledge of LCPS curriculum, methods, and division goals.
• Knowledge of pre-adolescent and adolescent growth and development.
• Ability to apply current research to instructional programs.
• Skill in using multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships; strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Continually assess student achievement and maintain reporting documentation.
• Plan and implement instructional strategies and learning activities.
• Manage student behavior to maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Coordinate activities with staff to maximize learning opportunities.
• Participate in in-service and professional development.
• Communicate progress to students and parents; conduct conferences as needed.
• Collaborate with guidance counselors, librarians, and other staff.
