Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools seeks a dedicated Special Education teacher to join our team in Virginia. The role involves planning and delivering instruction, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with staff to support individual learning goals.

The ideal candidate will hold a Virginia license in Special Education (or be eligible) and apply evidence-based teaching strategies using a variety of materials and technology to enhance learning for diverse students.

Qualifications

• Valid Virginia or out-of-state teaching license in Special Education.
• Eligible for Virginia license in Special Education (transcripts required).
• Knowledge of LCPS curriculum and division goals; ability to apply current research to instruction.
• Ability to plan lessons based on objectives and student needs; use diverse instructional materials and tech.

Responsibilities

• Assess student achievement and maintain assessment documentation.
• Plan and implement instructional strategies and activities; manage learning time.
• Manage student behavior to maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Coordinate instructional activities with staff to maximize learning opportunities.
• Participate in in-service and professional development activities and staff meetings.
• Communicate progress to students and parents; discuss instructional expectations.
• Collaborate with guidance counselors, librarians, etc., for school-wide activities.
