Qualifications

• Holds a valid Virginia or out-of-state teaching license in Special Education.
• Eligible for a Virginia teaching license in Special Education (transcripts required).
• Knowledge of LCPS curriculum, assessment practices, and school division goals.
• Knowledge of pre-adolescent and adolescent development as it relates to instruction.
• Skill in using multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning; able to align lessons with division objectives.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues; strong oral and written communications.

Responsibilities

• Continually assess student achievement and maintain evaluation documentation for reporting.
• Plan and implement instructional strategies and learning activities.
• Manage student behavior to maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Coordinate instructional activities with other professional staff to maximize learning opportunities.
• Participate in in-service and professional development activities.
• Communicate instructional expectations and progress with students and parents.
• Collaborate with counselors, librarians, and other staff to support school initiatives.
