Job summary

The Center for Justice Innovation in Staten Island, NY invites applications for the Engagement Specialist role within the Transformative Reentry Initiative (TRI). Qualifications

• High school diploma and 3-5 years of experience working with formerly incarcerated individuals or with lived experience.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Strong knowledge of reentry, the justice system, Staten Island community resources and restorative justice practices.
• Think creatively and critically about approaches to helping people reenter and engage with the community.
• Trauma-informed, non-judgemental presence and strong communication are essential.
• Ability to balance collaboration with independent work.
• Experience with person-centered practices and language.
• Ability to work with diverse communities and provide crisis management as needed.
• Comfort with Zoom, Teams and Google Meet for virtual engagement.

Responsibilities

• Engage in one-on-one relationships with mentees and families, including arranging mentorship meetings several times weekly.
• Develop, facilitate, and coordinate group programming including workshops and restorative circles.
• Co-create and oversee components of individual support plans and family team meetings.
• Meet participants at discharge from DOC/DOCCS facilities when needed.
• Provide referrals related to workforce and employment programs and navigate social services.
• Track participant activities and outcomes using online databases.
• Act as a community liaison by building partnerships and attending meetings and events.
• Operate a company vehicle for outreach and client engagement as needed.
• Provide coverage for other TRI programming and participate in staff meetings.
• Perform other duties to support SIJC and TRI activities.
