Job summary

Metro is seeking a Production Supervisor for the Waste Prevention and Environmental Services department at the Metro South Transfer Station. You will lead Heavy Equipment Operators and Transfer Station Technician II, plan daily production, manage staff and equipment, and coordinate outbound hauling to maintain station capacity.

This role emphasizes safety, performance monitoring, bottleneck prevention, and building a skilled, collaborative team in a union environment.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge and training evidenced by a college degree in the function supervised.
• Four (4) years of directly related experience.
• Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
• Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Heavy Equipment Operators and Transfer Station staff, including assigning work and coaching.
• Plan and direct daily production, including pit operations, compaction, loading and outbound hauling.
• Set daily production priorities and adjust work assignments and equipment deployment.
• Coordinate outbound hauling with internal staff, contractors and haulers.
• Identify equipment problems early and coordinate maintenance, repair and replacement.
• Work with Operations and Production Manager to match material volumes with capacity and prevent bottlenecks.
• Ensure safety requirements and proper equipment practices are followed.
• Improve production procedures to increase efficiency and throughput.
