Job summary

Metro in Portland’s South Transfer Station seeks an Operations and Production Manager to lead daily site operations, from entry through outbound hauling. You will supervise Interior, Exterior and Production Supervisors, set priorities and coordinate staffing, safety, and performance.

Reporting to the Transfer Station Superintendent, you’ll develop SOPs, manage budgets, and act as Superintendent when needed while building strong cross-functional partnerships with safety, asset management, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the area of assignment or a related field.
• Five (5) years leading or supervising people.
• Two (2) years project management experience in area of responsibility.
• Any combination of education, professional, volunteer and lived experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Hire, supervise and develop the Production Supervisor, Interior Operations Supervisor and Exterior Operations Supervisor.
• Set clear expectations, evaluate performance and coach supervisors.
• Direct daily operations across customer and traffic, transfer floor and production functions.
• Coordinate customer flow, floor capacity, material movement and production throughput.
• Develop staffing, deployment and resource allocation standards with operational supervisors and managers.
• Deploy staff, equipment and other resources based on volumes, safety conditions and production needs.
• Establish service standards and performance measures, monitor results and take corrective actions.
