Job summary

The City of Winslow is seeking a Sanitation Operator to assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s transfer station. This at-will position requires attendance at the designated work location and includes a six-month probationary period for regular status.

Responsibilities include operating heavy equipment, performing routine maintenance, ensuring safety protocols, recording logs, and interacting with the public.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in sanitation or waste disposal including operating heavy equipment.
• Equivalency) combinations of education, training, and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Opens and closes transfer station gates; conducts daily safety inspections.
• Supervises separation of trash and explains procedures to the public.
• Inspects and collects dump vouchers; accounts for fees.
• Maintains records and logs; enters data as required.
• Operates equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, and loaders.
• Performs painting, yard work, janitorial, and housekeeping duties as assigned.
