Job summary

AppleOne Employment Services is seeking a detail-oriented Transfer Paralegal in Glendale, CA to support cemetery property ownership transfers and related estate planning matters. This direct hire role emphasizes accuracy, compassionate service, and compliance with California law.

You'll work with internal teams and families, preparing affidavits, transfer agreements, certifications, and notarized documents.

Qualifications

• Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved institution is required.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of paralegal or related legal experience required, with 3-5 years of experience ideal.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four-year degree preferred.
• Valid California driver's license required, including state-required active auto insurance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Explain the transfer of ownership process to families, property owners, heirs, and internal teams by phone, email, and in-person meetings.
• Research ownership records, identify current property owners, and gather legal information needed to initiate and complete transfers.
• Construct detailed family trees and identify heirs-at-law for deceased property owners.
• Prepare, review, and process legal documents including affidavits, transfer agreements, certifications, name changes, and related documentation.
• Obtain and verify notarized signatures, trusts, powers of attorney, certified court orders, living wills, and other legal documents for attorney review.
• Partner with legal, memorial counseling, and internal departments while managing customer service, clerical, and data entry responsibilities under strict deadlines.
