Position Overview

Title: Transfer Center Dispatcher
Pay Rate: $19 - $22 per hour
Location: 55 Water Street, New York, NY 10041
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 12 hour shifts, Monday - Sunday, rotating schedule
Shifts: 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. (1900 - 0700) or 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (0700-1900)
Weekend availability is required.

Responsibilities

• Call Management: Handle high-volume intake calls, prioritize, and dispatch using CAD systems.
• Resource Coordination: Determine the appropriate level of care and coordinate transport activities with field EMTs.
• Customer Service: Provide courteous, friendly service to medical facilities, the public, and fellow EMS staff.
• Trip Assignment: Assign trips to the appropriate resources based on needs and availability.
• Billing Support: Collect patient billing information and assist with pre-billing activities. Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of transportation dispatch experience (EMS dispatch preferred)
• Emergency Medical Technician - EMT experience
• Strong geographical knowledge of service areas
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations
• Proficiency in typing (40-45 WPM) and data entry experience
• Familiarity with computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
