The University Transfer and Adult Student Center provides advising support, transition services, and advocacy to promote transfer and adult student success. Through collaboration with campus and external partners, the Center connects students to the resources, pathways, and support systems that facilitate a smooth transition into the university and support their progression to graduation.

The Center serves as a resource to transfer and adult students, with a particular emphasis on prospective and newly enrolled students, as well as a resource to faculty and staff.

Primary Purpose of Position

The Transfer Advisor supports prospective and enrolled students with prior college credit, including transfer and adult learners, by providing academic advising and transition support. The position will primarily provide pre-transfer advising to students participating in UNC Charlotte’s 49erNext program while also supporting other transfer and adult students based on Center priorities and student needs.

The advisor helps students understand how prior coursework may apply to degree requirements, explore academic options, and identify coursework that supports preparation for their intended major and timely progression to graduation. Pre-transfer advising is currently delivered primarily through individual appointments and Transfer Guides. This position will help expand access to advising by developing group sessions and other scalable resources that provide clear and consistent guidance throughout the transfer process.

The advisor also contributes to outreach, engagement programming, and collaborative initiatives that strengthen transfer and adult student pathways, improve credit mobility, and support students as they transition to UNC Charlotte.
