Job summary

Expeditors International in Melrose Park, IL is seeking an Operations professional to handle import file creation, event tracking, and appointment coordination. You will dispatch shipments timely and ensure GPS paperwork and units are ready for pickup, while maintaining high service standards.

The role emphasizes strong communication, organization, and adherence to procedures, with at least 6 months of domestic ops experience and a commitment to training hours.

Qualifications

• 6–12 months experience in domestic operations.

Responsibilities

• Create import files and use Transcon DDL workflow to ensure proper events.
• Request appointments for shipments needing consignees' appointments.
• Update appointments and EDL/APT for arrivals where needed.
• Dispatch shipments timely based on arrival and appointment.
• Ensure GPS loads, paperwork, seals, and GPS units are ready.
• Load HAWB’s and shipments onto correct trucks.
• Adhere to DLSOPS procedures for customers.
• Escalate problems to management when necessary.
• Meet KPI standards; complete 52 training hours yearly.

Job Description

Operations:

• Knowledge to create Import files.
• Understand and use the Transcon DDL workflow and other tools to ensure shipments have the proper events in the files.
  • Ensure to request appointments for shipments delivering to Consignees that need one if no appointment is needed.
    • SFS/CVC no APR
  • Ensure to update appointment once confirmed.
    • APR no APT
  • Ensure to update Expected Delivery date for shipments that do not need appointment based on arrival.
    • ADD/AFD no EDL/APT
  • Dispatch shipments timely based on arrival and appointment.
    • APT/RDL no ESD
    • TBS/DOP no ESD
• GPS loads and truck monitoring
  • Ensure all paperwork, seals and GPS units are assigned prior to GPS shipments being picked up.
  • Ensure all HAWB’s and shipments are loaded on the correct trucks
• Adherence to procedures as outlined in DLSOPS for customers.
• Escalation of problems to Management when necessary.
• Promote compliance in diligently following all company policies and regulations and performing the task at hand with outstanding integrity and pride.
• Meet KPI standards in accordance with the Company’s procedures.
• Must meet 52 hours of training yearly.

Qualifications

Qualifications, Experience and Education Requirements

• Six months to one year related experience in Domestic operations.
• Operations/Industry Knowledge preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• A proven history of providing exceptional customer service at all levels
• Excellent organizational skills, time management skills in addition to a professional attitude
• Great attitude and background based on compliments from customers and coworkers
• Strong MS Office skills including Excel, and OneNote
