Job summary

Transdev in Lawrence, Kansas is seeking a Training Supervisor to oversee classroom and field training for drivers, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and federal/state requirements. The role involves coordinating schedules, maintaining records, and coaching staff to improve safety and service.

Starting pay is part of a union payscale, with progression through the pay scale over time; benefits include health, including medical, dental & vision, 401k, and vacation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or related coursework preferred.
• Prior experience in transportation, safety, training, operations, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Class B CDL with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements.
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and regulatory compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom, behind-the-wheel, and hands-on training for new driver hires and existing employees requiring refresher or remedial training.
• Ensure all training complies with company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate training programs, orientation sessions, road evaluations, and certification activities.
• Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, certifications, and compliance documentation.
• Evaluate employee performance and provide coaching and development plans to improve safety and operational effectiveness.
• Support safety initiatives, including investigations, safety audits, and compliance monitoring.
• Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee development programs.
• Monitor regulatory changes and update training materials accordingly.
• Collaborate with operations, management, and safety teams to identify training needs and drive improvements.
• Serve as a safety and compliance resource for drivers and location personnel.

Training Supervisor

Transdev in Lawrence, Kansas is hiring a Training Supervisor. The Training Supervisors ensures all routes are completed in compliance with safety procedures. We are seeking customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.

Position Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement:

• $22.15- $29.60 (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Payscale)
• Starting pay $22.15 with progression to $29.60 over 5 years.

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or related coursework preferred.
• Previous experience in transportation, safety, training, operations, or a related field preferred.
• Prior experience training, coaching, mentoring, or supervising hourly employees.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements.
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, transportation safety practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage deadlines effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to lead classroom presentations and conduct practical, hands‑on training in operational environments.
• Strong problem‑solving, interpersonal, and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support training schedules and operational requirements.
• Fluent in English; bilingual communication skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
