Job summary

Transdev North America in Dallas, Texas, is seeking a Training and Safety Supervisor to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and company policy. You will deliver classroom and behind-the-wheel training to new drivers and monitor training programs.

The role emphasizes safety, risk management, incident investigation, and cooperation with Operations, Dispatch and HR to align training with service needs. Some travel and flexible shifts may apply.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years transportation and safety experience preferred.
  • Valid Class A or B CDL with Passenger Endorsements for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience driving a CMV.
  • Ability to conduct field observations and provide immediate corrective feedback.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, rules and ordinances, including accessibility legislation, environmental protection and worker health and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and coordinate and furnish training programs. Involves: Develop and present training and instructional programs and materials.
  • Monitor program effectiveness; track attendance and prepare periodic reports.
  • Perform risk management and safety functions. Implements policies, procedures, and internal controls related to compliance with health, safety, security and environment rules and regulations.
  • Identify health and safety risks and recommend corrective actions to control and limit liability.
  • Collect data and analyze accident or incident rends. Investigate claims of damage or injury reported by passengers, pedestrians or other drivers.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections such as post-accident and post employee claims, injury inspections and monitoring.
  • Participate in compliance activities related to the environment, prepare regulatory reports, and coordinate corrective action or response to audit findings.
  • May oversee and coordinate the federally mandated Drug and Alcohol testing program with other affected departments.
  • Perform related duties as required. Performs duties immediate supervisor, co-workers, or subordinates to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Responds to serious accidents or emergencies to ensure proper investigation.
  • Monitor development and maintenance of annunciation system on buses. May oversee parking assignments.
  • Provide classroom and behind-the-wheel training to new drivers
  • Assist Safety Manager in promoting a proactive safety culture through education, coaching and accountability
  • Coordinate, deliver and document all aspects of new hire, refresher and remedial training
  • Collaborate with Operations, Dispatch and HR to ensure training schedules align with service needs.
  • Liaise between Safety, Operations and Dispatch to ensure safety performance and behavior issues are promptly addressed and documented.
  • Monitor and track trends, counsel, coach and retrain deficiencies
  • Maintain required training documentation and completion for compliance with state certification, company policies and district, state & federal requirements
  • Conduct and document one on one safety coaching sessions for patterns of unsafe behavior with employees
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications
  • 1 to 3 years transportation and safety experience preferred

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV)
  • Ability to conduct field observations and provide immediate corrective feedback
  • Application of knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, rules and ordinances, including accessibility legislation, environmental protection and worker health and safety.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-50% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Push and pull objects up to 100 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
