Job summary

Transdev in Redwood City, CA is seeking a Safety Manager to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and company safety requirements. The role leads recruitment and training of operator candidates and fosters strong leadership and positive morale at the location.

You will oversee safety programs, conduct training, manage drug & alcohol program, OSHA logs, and incident investigations, and coordinate audits. This is a full-time role with afternoons/swing shift expectations.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL with Passenger Endorsement (required).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in passenger transportation.
• Excellent safety and service record.
• Experience in location safety management and/or operations management.
• Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and corporate safety programs and policies.

Responsibilities

• Provides behind-the-wheel instruction according to corporate and client specifications in all aspects of vehicle operation and passenger transportation.
• Conducts classroom training in accordance with corporate and location requirements.
• Ensure all safety manuals, programs, policies, and procedures are current and meet the needs of the location.
• Document all training activities and ensure accurate completion of all training-related employee records.
• Prepares and conducts monthly safety meetings.
• Maintains an adequate and complete employee filing system and participates in audits and inspections to meet client and corporate expectations.
• Directs the location drug & alcohol program to include random drug testing and ensures all files are updated to pass regular audits.
• Manages the injury prevention program to reduce the number of workplace injuries.
• Conducts accident investigation using root-cause analysis and assigns employee re-training as required.
• Responsible for maintaining/posting OSHA log.
• Conducts road observations to evaluate operator safety, customer service, and systematic knowledge of the service.
• Provides coaching and re-training as required on lytx (drive cam system).
• Respond to customer comments related to the service.

The Safety Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and with company safety requirements. Responsible for continuous leadership, recruitment and training of operator candidates. Promotes strong leadership and influences positive employee morale throughout the location. This position is based in Redwood City, CA.

• Competitive annual compensation: $90,000 minimum -- $95,000 maximum

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides behind-the-wheel instruction according to corporate and client specifications in all aspects of vehicle operation and passenger transportation, including defensive driving, service area familiarization, passenger loading, unloading and securement.
• Conducts classroom training in accordance with corporate and location requirements.
• Ensure all safety manuals, programs, policies, and procedures are current and meet the needs of the location.
• Document all training activities and ensure accurate completion of all training-related employee records.
• Prepares and conducts monthly safety meetings
• Maintains an adequate and complete employee filing system and participates in audits and inspections to meet client and corporate expectations.
• Directs the location drug & alcohol program to include random drug testing and ensures all files are updated to pass regular audits.

Qualifications:

• Valid CDL (Class A, B, or C acceptable) with Passenger Endorsement (required)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in passenger transportation industry
• Excellent safety and service record.
• Experience in location safety management and/or operations management
• Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and corporate safety programs and policies.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with all departments.
• Ability to work independently and objectively.
