Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in construction or related field.
• 3–5 years of training and development experience, with leadership preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification and CPTD certification.

• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Able to teach and coach employees at all levels; travel to multiple sites.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management software.
• Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Litmos).

Position Summary

The Training & Development Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, leading, and managing exiting and new training programs, for both field and office staff within the construction company. This role ensures employees understand company processes, safety standards, communication expectations, and operational best practices to improve consistency, productivity, and accountability across all departments.

The Training & Development Manager acts as a bridge between leadership, field operations, and project management, and supports departments to drive operational excellence through workforce development.

Major Responsibilities

Training & Development

• Develop and manage training and hands-on coaching programs for field and office staff, covering company SOPs, safety procedures, quality and production standards, documentation, and reporting systems.
• Manage training of software tools, including project management, scheduling, accounting, estimating, document control, and the company's training learning management system.
• Coordinate recurring refresher training, operational meetings, and site-specific safety training; partner with third-party safety providers and utilize the KBIG partnership for administering training and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards and coordinate access to external continuing education programs such as AGC, Dale Carnegie, and other industry development opportunities.
• Standardize workflows and communication standards, and create user guides, process manuals, and training materials for all staff.
• Provide training and support to help field personnel progress through the RDR (Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities) Matrix; own, review, and maintain the RDR Matrix annually to ensure alignment with company goals and best practices.
• Gather feedback from training participants to evaluate program effectiveness and conduct yearly reviews of training programs for both field and office staff.
• Support employees' ongoing professional growth and development.

Leadership & Coaching

• Manage and oversee leadership development programs, ensuring content, delivery, and outcomes align with company goals and support the growth of current and future leaders.
• Identify top performers and coordinate access to leadership development programs through external providers.

Technology & Systems Implementation

• Manage training software and learning management systems (such as Litmos) as part of the total training program.
• Monitor employee adoption and competency, and coordinate with vendors and IT support as needed.

Employee Advancement

• Develop measurable KPIs for field and office teams, track training completion and employee progress, and participate in audits and performance evaluations.
• Provide recommendations for staffing, advancement, and succession planning, and provide regular progress reports to leadership.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or construction industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 3-5 years of experience in training and development, with prior leadership, supervisory, or coaching experience preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30, CPTD (Certified Professional in Talent Development), or other recognized training/instructional design credential.
• Strong understanding of field operations, project management, construction workflows, and safety practices is a plus but not required.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to teach and coach employees at all levels, with a background in workforce development or adult training preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, construction management software, and scheduling and reporting systems is a plus but not required.
• Ability to travel between jobsites and office locations.
• Experience in commercial, civil, industrial, or general construction operations preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to sit, use hands to type, handle documents, and operate standard office equipment; must also be able to visit active construction jobsites and navigate office and field environments.
• Frequently required to talk, hear, and communicate in person and via telephone or video.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and navigate uneven terrain; may occasionally lift training materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus for prolonged computer use.

Work Environment:

• Combination of professional office, field, and training environments within a fast-paced, deadline-driven construction setting.
• Frequent interaction with field personnel, project teams, leadership, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
• Travel to job sites, main offices, and training locations as required.
• May require occasional extended work hours to meet project deadlines.
