Job summary

County of Alameda Assessor’s Office seeks an Appraiser I trainee to learn the theory and practice of real property appraisal under close supervision. The program includes classroom and on‑the‑job training on replacement cost, market and income approaches to value, with the goal of preparing for the appraiser certification test.

New hires progress to the Appraiser II level upon successful completion of training and certification requirements, contributing to accurate annual assessments for

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience as required by California R&T Code
• Four years of relevant experience OR combination with education to meet minimum qualifications
• Possession of or eligibility for a temporary appraiser’s certificate by the California State Board of Equalization

Responsibilities

• Appraise real property under close supervision in a trainee capacity
• Learn appraisal theory and practice through classroom and on‑the‑job training
• Progress to Appraiser II after completing the training program and certification requirements
