Job summary

CPKC in Beasley, Texas is seeking a Conductor to join our Operations Southern Region. This safety-critical role requires fitness for outdoor work, long shifts, and careful train handling under GCOR rules.

You\'ll perform yard and train movements, communicate clearly by radio, and adapt to unscheduled shifts in a 24/7 environment. Training offers strong wages and clear paths to roles like Yard Foreperson or Engineer.

Qualifications

• Physical duties including walking up to 6 miles, uneven ground, lifting up to 80 pounds.
• Willingness to work unscheduled 24/7 shifts in a rail environment.
• 12-hour shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to report to work within a 2-hour call window after rest.
• Excellent focus, attention to detail and multitasking.
• Strong radio communications for clear instructions.
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Must read and understand safety instructions in English.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Work in either train or yard service depending on seniority.
• Carry out instructions detailing a train's route and movements.
• Coordinate the switching of cars, including coupling/uncoupling.
• Observe, interpret, and relay signals affecting movement.
• Signal crew members for movement using signals or radio.
• Follow GCOR, general orders and bulletins.
• Provide flag protection and relay signals in emergencies.
• Move on/off moving or stationary equipment.
• Fill out forms and prepare clear reports.
• Handle emergencies and operate fire extinguishers; basic first aid.
