Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a yard switcher/package handler candidate to move trailers between yard areas and doors. The role involves safe loading/unloading, high-speed teamwork, and precise documentation of trailer movements in the yard.

The position may require performing hand-to-surface package handling and operating dock equipment, with attention to safety and efficiency. Prior CDL or switcher experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers between yard and doors; performs yard switching tasks.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management and central control.
• Documents trailer moves using yard management system or switcher cards.
• Completes pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
