Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines in Portland, OR is seeking a trailer mechanic to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on trailers, inspect and troubleshoot, and ensure compliance with FMCSA safety rules.

You will interpret work orders, replace defective parts, test performance, and work with safety documents; strong toolbox skills, reliability, and ability to work nights or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Must be 17+ years old.
• 1 year experience or trade school; or equivalent.
• Must know how to use hand tools and test equipment.
• Must have own tools.
• Must understand general repairs and PM criteria.
• Must adapt to changing technology and updates.
• Physical stamina to lift heavy items and work in awkward positions.
• Valid CDL and acceptable MVR if driving on public roads.
• If CDL holder, must be registered with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Willing to work nights and weekends; flexible schedule.
• Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and preventive maintenance of trailers.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and maintain equipment.
• Perform safety inspections and FMCSA documentation requirements.
• Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
• Repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and compliance.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Other duties as assigned.
