Job summary

J.B. Hunt in Indianapolis is seeking a Trailer Mechanic II to perform intermediate maintenance and repairs on trailers, under routine supervision, ensuring equipment meets company standards.

You will troubleshoot and complete work orders, participate in OE training, mentor trainees, and follow safety procedures while working outdoors across shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ with 2 years of semi-trailer maintenance/repair experience or equivalent
• Experience with DOT and FHWA inspections and air brakes
• Own basic tools or participate in toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors and across shifts (nights/weekends)
• High School Diploma or GED preferred with related experience

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and standard repairs on trailer equipment
• Troubleshoot trailer issues and perform intermediate repairs per specs, complete work orders
• Support onboarding and mentoring of trainee technicians
• Participate in OE training for repairs
• Follow shop safety procedures and communicate with staff and customers
