Job summary

Estes Express Lines in Fontana, CA seeks an experienced trailer mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on our trailer fleet. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment, interpret work orders, and ensure compliance with manufacturer specs and FMCSA rules.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 17+, and at least one year of experience or trade school. You must own tools and be able to lift 70 lbs; CDL and FMCSA clearinghouse registration may apply if driving.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Must be 17+ years of age.
• Minimum of one-year experience and/or completion of trade school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to use hand tools and test equipment.
• Must have own tools.
• Must know general repairs and PM criteria.
• Must possess the ability to keep up with changing technology and updates.
• Must possess a strong work ethic and good problem solving skills.
• CDL and acceptable MVR required if driving on public roads.
• If a CDL holder, must be registered with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for repairs and required preventive maintenance of trailers.
• Inspect, trouble shoot, diagnose, and perform maintenance on equipment.
• Perform safety inspections and prepare safety documents per FMCSA and regulations.
• Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
• Repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and regulatory compliance.
• Regular attendance is required.
• This is not an all-inclusive list of duties; may perform other duties as assigned.
