Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Trailer Repair Technician to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair company trailers and related equipment. The role supports safe, reliable fleet operations by completing quality repairs, documenting work, and maintaining a clean work area.

Essential duties include performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, air-brake and suspension systems, welding and fabrication when qualified, and ensuring road-ready status after repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1+ years of trailer, truck, heavy-equipment, automotive or related mechanical experience preferred.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, jacks, stands, lifting devices and welding or fabrication equipment as assigned.
• Valid driver license and acceptable driving record may be required for road-service or equipment movement duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections on trailers in accordance with DOT-style requirements.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, air-brake and suspension systems on trailers.
• Repair or replace brakes, wheel-end components, lights, wiring and related components.
• Conduct welding, cutting, fabrication and structural repairs when qualified and authorized.
• Document inspections, repairs, parts used and return-to-service information.
