Job summary

J&R Schugel Trucking, Inc. is seeking a Trailer Technician to diagnose, adjust and repair conventional trailers to keep them safe and operable for customer freight delivery. The role involves hands-on maintenance and rapid problem solving in a busy shop environment.

Typical duties include preventive maintenance, inspections, ABS repair, lighting and door work, and minor welding. You will document work orders, assist drivers, and adhere to FMCSR & D.O.T. regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of trailer technician experience preferred.
• Knowledge of brakes, electrical systems, welding, suspension, HVAC, and auxiliary components.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, adjust, and repair conventional trailers to keep them safe and operable.
• Perform preventive maintenance including fluid changes, lubrication, tires, and cleaning.
• Conduct inspections and ensure accurate documentation for FHWA/DOT compliance.
• Repair ABS systems, brakes, lighting, doors, and suspension as needed.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance and adherence to specs.
• Complete paperwork promptly and assist drivers with questions.
