Job summary

Trident Systems SES division seeks a Principal Systems Engineer to lead engineering teams in developing advanced space hardware using a holistic systems approach. You will guide program planning, trades, and verification while collaborating with program managers and chief engineers to ensure successful execution.

The role requires deep technical depth across mechanical, electrical, software, and firmware domains and strong communication to steer reviews, proposals, and new initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required.
• 12+ years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 10+ years with a master's degree.
• Experience leading development and delivery of complex spaceflight or aerospace hardware from concept through qualification, production, and customer delivery.
• Proficient in applying systems engineering methodology to product design and development.
• Ability to balance technical performance with program cost and schedule targets.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Technically lead a diverse engineering team in the development of space applications using systems engineering methodology.
• Own the systems engineering process on the program, including trades, baseline management, and verification.
• Act as the program technical champion, representative, and point of contact.
• Prepare for and present at major design reviews, including customer reviews.
• Provide technical planning for IR&D and new product initiatives.
• Support proposal efforts for new business opportunities.
• Travel to Fairfax, Virginia (up to 25%) as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
