HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. The ER RN will triage, assess and treat patients of all ages presenting for emergency care in a Level II trauma center.

The role involves documenting nursing notes, administering medications, triage, coordinating ambulance traffic and using the 5-level triage algorithm. Shift is 12 hours, mid shift, with rotating holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or higher).
• Current RN license in practicing state or multi-state license.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS preferred with 30 days to obtain after hire.
• Minimum 6 months RN experience; acute care hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to document, triage and manage patient care across ER zones.

Responsibilities

• Document nursing notes reflecting changes in condition, transfers and discharges.
• Administer medications per physician orders.
• Respond to and triage phone calls as needed.
• Manage throughput across care zones: triage, rapid treatment, carepath, pediatric ER, trauma, behavioral health.
• Coordinate and triage incoming ambulance traffic.
• Collaborate with the primary ED attending for patient care.
• Learn, apply and use the Emergency Severity Index 5-level triage.
• Respond to critical needs and serve as trauma resource nurse.
• Educate patients and families about medications, procedures and treatments.
