Job summary

City of St. Joseph is seeking an Equipment Operator II in Traffic to perform pavement markings, sign installation, and related duties. Operates striping trucks, dump trucks, and snow removal equipment while maintaining records of daily work.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement required.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks with minimum supervision.
• Skills in operating equipment used in maintenance of traffic control devices.
• Knowledge of the rules and regulations in MUTCD.
• Skills in Microsoft Office products.
• Knowledge of City, State and Federal rules and regulations.
• Ability to learn applicable City ordinances.
• Certification with work zone safety preferred (IMA/ATA).

Responsibilities

• Operates mobile pavement striping truck, walk behind paint stripers, and hand paints crossings with stencils.
• Operates dump trucks and other equipment; transports materials and crew safely.
• Sets up daily closures and emergency closures for maintenance and incidents.
• Installs and replaces regulatory, informational, and warning signs.
• Maintains daily work records and on-call duties for emergencies.
• Manufactures and refurbishes traffic signs as needed; serves as crew lead in foreman's absence.
