Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • IMSA Workzone Safety Temporary Traffic Control Certification within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Operate control mechanisms to install signs such as stop, speed limit, and informational signs.
  • Perform skilled tasks in the manufacture, maintenance, and repair of city owned signs.
  • Operate city vehicles to transport equipment and/or supplies, and travel between job sites.
  • Set up safe work zones for employees and instruct co-workers on traffic hazards and safety.
  • Set up or remove barricades, traffic cones, warning signs, or similar objects to provide traffic control on work sites or special events.
  • Lay out and make pavement markings on roadways.
  • Study factors affecting traffic conditions, such as lighting and visibility, to assess effectiveness.
