Job summary

City of Fort Wayne seeks a Sign Marking Specialist/Electrical Technician for Traffic Operations, working 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. with hours potentially varying.

This role blends electrical work, sign fabrication, installation, pavement markings, and equipment maintenance in both shop and field settings. Responsibilities include installing and maintaining signs, signals, and lighting, fabricating and repairing street signs, applying pavement markings, troubleshooting tools, and operating lift

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, with electrical coursework.
• At least three years of experience in electrical wiring, maintenance and sign work.
• Ability to work around moving traffic, at heights, and in varying weather.
• Ability to bend, twist, climb, and lift 50 pounds or more.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installing, repairing, and replacing internally illuminated signs, traffic signals, and street lighting.
• Fabricate, assemble, paint, install, repair, and maintain street signs, including overhead signs and banners.
• Apply and maintain pavement markings, including crosswalks, lanes, arrows, stop bars, and curbs.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools and equipment; perform welding and cutting.
• Operate lift platforms, bucket trucks, forklifts, and other equipment in work zones while maintaining safety.
