Job summary

The City of Fort Wayne seeks a Sign Marking Specialist/Electrical Technician in the Traffic Operations division to install, maintain and repair illuminated signs, pavement markings, and related equipment.

You will work in the shop and in the field, using electrical knowledge and hand tools to keep streets safe. A high school diploma with electrical coursework and three years of sign-related experience are required, along with appropriate licenses.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with electrical coursework required.
  • Three years of experience in electrical wiring, maintenance, and sign-related work.
  • Ability to work safely around traffic and at heights in variable weather.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and replace internally illuminated signs, traffic signals, and street lighting.
  • Fabricate, install, and maintain street signs and markings, including overhead signs and banners.
  • Apply pavement markings and maintain related equipment in shop and field environments.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools and equipment; perform welding and cutting as needed.
  • Operate equipment and manage work zones, keeping documentation and safety at the forefront.
