Job summary

HNTB is seeking a Traffic Signals Project Engineer to design, analyze, and optimize traffic signal systems across roadway networks. You will develop signal timing plans, process large transportation datasets, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and public agencies to deliver data‑driven solutions.

The role emphasizes planning, design calculation work, and mentoring junior staff while ensuring on‑time project delivery and adherence to standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 6 years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 5 years, or PhD with 4 years.
Ability to develop signal timing plans and analyze traffic data.
Experience with traffic signal design and related construction documents.

Responsibilities

Responsible for planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence to the schedule and budget on projects.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects within discipline.
Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline; guides and mentors the team.
Coordinates technical aspects of the project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level.
Works closely with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
