Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an Electronic Technician in District 04 to install, repair, program, and maintain traffic signal systems and related equipment. The role requires operating bucket trucks and specialized tools, with a focus on preventive maintenance and diagnostic work.

The position offers progression from Electronic Technician Trainee to Electronic Technician, with hourly rates listed.

Qualifications

One year of experience or training in maintenance or repair of electronic/electrical systems.
One year of experience or training in the installation, repair or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software).
Possession of a CompTIA A+ Certification.
Experience substitution: six semester hours earned in electronics or computer science substitute for one year of required experience.
Must possess FCC radio-telephone license when working with marine/aviation transmitting equipment or radar.

Responsibilities

Installs, repairs, and maintains electronic traffic signal systems, controllers, and vehicle detection equipment; performs preventive maintenance and inspections yearly.
Read blueprints and schematics; assist in layout of electrical and mechanical systems; inspect and maintain building systems.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical devices and systems on fixed bridges and roadway lighting, including navigational lighting.
Assist in maintaining stock of electrical parts and in estimating repair costs; prepare Daily Work Reports; assist with two-way radio installations in state vehicles.
May perform other duties including emergency/disaster support as needed.
