The State of Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, District 04/Unit 752, seeks an Electronic Technician to install, repair, program, and maintain electronic traffic signal systems, solid-state controllers, and video detection equipment. The job involves operating bucket trucks, forklifts, and vehicles and using voltmeters, amp gauges, PDAs, and computers.

Appointment type: Probational or Promotional. Career progression to Electronic Technician Trainee or Electronic Technician.

Qualifications

• One year of experience or training in the maintenance or repair of electronic/electrical systems; OR
• One year of experience or training in installation, repair or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software); OR
• Possession of a CompTIA A+ Certification.
• EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every six semester hours earned from an accredited college or university in electronics or computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.
• NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must possess an appropriate FCC radio-telephone license when working with marine and aviation transmitting equipment or with radar.

Responsabilités

• Installs, repairs, and maintains electronic traffic signal systems, solid-state computerized controllers, and vehicle detection equipment. Performs preventive maintenance and inspection of all computerized traffic signal systems in the district annually. Inspects installation of new signals and beacons including wiring, controllers, and signal heads. Uploads/downloads data to/from controllers using a laptop or handheld.
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment including high voltage systems, lighting, cooling, heating, emergency power, control panels, and power distribution. Read blueprints/schematics for diagnosis and repair; assist in layout of electrical/mechanical systems. Perform preventive maintenance on A/C, water heaters, and other Equipment.
• Perform diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of electrical devices and systems on fixed bridges; maintain roadway/marine navigational lighting; perform electrical maintenance on signals and lights.
• Assist in maintaining stock of electrical parts; assist in estimating repair costs; prepare Daily Work Reports; assist telecoms with two-way radios in state vehicles.
• May perform other duties including emergency/disaster support activities.
