Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks a Traffic Engineer to support transportation projects through traffic operations, safety studies, data analysis, signal systems, and operational improvements. The position is located in Ouachita Parish, District 05, reporting to Engineer 6.

Qualifications

Current Louisiana professional engineering license required.
Ability to apply traffic engineering standards and procedures.
Willingness to obtain Louisiana license if licensed elsewhere.

Responsibilities

Performs engineering studies or analyses related to traffic operations, safety, signals, or traffic control.
Reviews or prepares traffic reports, signal plans, safety studies, operational analyses, or technical documentation.
Supports evaluation of traffic patterns, safety concerns, roadway operations, or mobility improvements.
Coordinates with DOTD districts, project teams, consultants, local officials, and other stakeholders.
Uses traffic engineering software, data systems, or technical tools to analyze operational needs.
Assists with recommendations related to traffic control, signal systems, safety improvements, or operational changes.

Education

Louisiana Professional Engineer license
