  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies and manage adequate levels; order supplies as needed.
  • Locate wiring and prepare reports and records on traffic safety and statistical data.
  • Provide routine traffic data to internal and external personnel on signal maintenance and activities.
  • Operate equipment (man-lifts, trucks, tools) to perform installation, maintenance and repair of signal systems; perform splices, cable work, and terminations.
  • Assist in designing traffic signal devices to meet control and safety needs of county roadways.

Job SummaryPerforms skilled maintenance duties involved in the inspection, modification, maintenance and/or repair of street and railroad traffic signal systems and their associated components.QualificationsEducation and Experience:High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years experience in traffic signal installation, operation and maintenance and must obtain the international Municipal Signal Association (I.M.S.A.) Level I Certification for Traffic Signal Technician within one year of date of employment.Knowledge of: Traffic control systems including the installation and maintenance procedures for traffic signals.Ability to: Prepare written reports, and maintain logs and records of statistical data; review drawings and plans; identify and design traffic signal systems necessary to meet legal requirements, control traffic, and meet safety requirements; monitor and maintain a parts inventory and to compute quantities and costs of supplies; follow written and oral instructions and to express ideas effectively orally and in writing; to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external personnel.Examples of DutiesDuties may include but are not limited to the following:Operate a variety of tools, circuit testing and motor vehicle equipment including a ladder truck to install, maintain and repair traffic signal, railroad crossing, and flashing school sign systems, set wood poles and guy anchors, install guy and span wire cables.Maintain an inventory of parts and supplies in support of street and railroad traffic signal maintenance and emergency repair, recommends adequate inventory levels and orders supplies as necessary.Locate street light and railroad traffic signal wiring for contractors and utility companies.Prepare written reports and maintain logs and records on a variety of traffic safety and statistical data in support of established monitoring programs and projects.Provide routine traffic data and information to internal and external personnel concerning street and railroad traffic signal and flashing school speed limit sign maintenance and operational activities.Operates a variety of equipment (man-lifts, trucks, tools, etc.) to perform installation, maintenance and repair of traffic signal systems, makes approved splices, pulls cable, solders, hangs and terminates cables.Assists in the design and construction of specialized traffic signal devices and systems to meet traffic control and safety concerns presented by County roadways either in existence, being constructed, or proposed in land development, annexation, and related applications.Performs other related duties as assigned.Salary GradeLocal 17 Engineers.9 - Local 17 Engineers.10Salary Range$33.26 - $48.82- per hourClose DateOpen Until FilledEqual Opportunity EmployerClark County is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing equal opportunity in employment, access, and delivery of all county services.
