Responsibilities include inventory management, reviewing drawings, and coordinating with contractors and utilities to ensure compliant, safe signal operations across County roadways.
Performs skilled maintenance duties involved in the inspection, modification, maintenance and/or repair of street and railroad traffic signal systems and their associated components.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years experience in traffic signal installation, operation and maintenance and must obtain the international Municipal Signal Association (I.M.S.A.) Level I Certification for Traffic Signal Technician within one year of date of employment.
Knowledge of: Traffic control systems including the installation and maintenance procedures for traffic signals.
Ability to: Prepare written reports, and maintain logs and records of statistical data; review drawings and plans; identify and design traffic signal systems necessary to meet legal requirements, control traffic, and meet safety requirements; monitor and maintain a parts inventory and to compute quantities and costs of supplies; follow written and oral instructions and to express ideas effectively orally and in writing; to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external personnel.
