Job summary

City of Fayetteville, North Carolina is seeking a Traffic Signal Technician II to perform advanced skilled and semi-skilled work in the installation, repair, maintenance and upgrade of traffic signal control devices and related systems. The role supports the Traffic Services Department and requires on-call availability for after-hours emergencies.

The position requires a valid driver’s license, ability to obtain a Class B CDL within six months, IMSA Level I certification within twelve months,

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in traffic signal system maintenance or related work.
• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by additional specialized training in electronics, installation or maintenance of traffic signal devices or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Operate signal installation and maintenance equipment (bucket trucks, drills, power tools) in various weather conditions.
• Assist with inspection, preventative maintenance and repair of signals and related equipment.
• Locate underground signal facilities using plans, records and locating devices.
• Ensure proper placement of signals and utilities before digging.
• Analyze, test and resolve signal system malfunctions (electrical, electro-mechanical, electronic components).
• Monitor traffic signal network via CCTV and field visits.
